Eating Healthy Passion Fruits
Scoop the gelatinous fruit along with the seeds out with a spoon and add them to mixed drinks, smoothies, wines, jams, jellies, yogurts and enjoy. Passionfruit fruits boast a low glycemic index, which supports healthy insulin sensitivity. High in antioxidants, passion fruits provide important nutrients. They are also high in dietary fiber and boost the immune system by providing vitamins C, B, and potassium.
Growing Passionfruit Passiflora Edulis Vines
Passiflora Edulis vines grow best in a ph between 5.5-7.5 in well-draining sandy, loamy soil. Add potassium to soils lacking in the nutrient, or ensure that the fertilizer you distribute contain a high amount of potassium for happy, long living vine plants. Because it is vine, consider using a trellis or weaving the vine through a fence to properly support the plant when heavy fruits arrive.
Germination procedure: No pre-treatment required. Sow seeds 1 inch deep into well draining soil. Keep seeds and soil moist. Germination time: 21-90 days.
