Grow Zones: 7,8,9,10 (Cold Hardy in zones 8-10)
Fatsia japonica Japanese Aralias produces white flowers in the beginning of fall that turn into black fruits by winter. The fruits house the seeds of the plant. If you wish to save the seeds you’ll want to wait until the fruits are ripe. Next, remove the seeds from the fruit pulp to sow. Aralias can withstand a bit of cold. However, if you know when Fastzing temperatures are coming, be sure to cover the plant for the duration of the frost.
Germination Procedure: Seeds sprout in warm temperatures (80 degrees). Pro tip: If using a seed starter tray, cover it with saran wrap and pull it back when watering to increase the soil temperature. Sow seeds 1 inch into the soil. Keep soil and seeds moist throughout germination phase (14-30 days).
