Hungarian Sweet Wax Pepper Seeds
This pepper variety will bear a crop of yellow 3- to 4-inch-long peppers in just a few months if regularly provided with water. To truly thrive, they must be planted in a south-facing bed with fertile, fast-draining soil. Hungarian hot wax peppers will grow in most climates since they are annual plants, although they grow especially well within U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 9 and 10 due to the climate’s long, hot summers.
Hungarian Sweet Wax Peppers are also known as Hungarian Stuffing Peppers. The prolific plants are upright growing 16-24″ tall with fruit that is pendant about 6″ long and 2″ in diameter, tapering to a blunt point. The flesh is thick, sweet and mild with a waxy looking skin ripening from pale green to yellow to orange to red. They are wonderful eaten out of hand in the garden during the summer and their sweetness comes through in pickling or freezing. The flavor deepens and becomes more sweetly complex as it ripens.
