These shrubs are so very versatile. They feature a fast growth rate, can be used in hedging (plant in rows to make a collection of hedging bushes) or can be grown indoors in a pot. If planting for hedging, space plants 2 ft apart.
While most people do clip the the branches for hedge use, Carissa can grow up to 20 ft tall.
The natal plum is a very drought-tolerant tropical shrub. The glossy evergreen leaves have an exotic appeal, with a lustrous leathery look and unique shaping. Carissa produces charming starry white flowers and follows with delicious edible plum-like fruits that are around 4 inches in diameter.

Germination Procedure: Germinates in medium temperatures (between 68-78 degrees). Likewise, it is best to start the seeds indoors. Gently press seeds into a sandy mix. Only lightly cover the seeds. Keep seeds and sand moist throughout the germination phase (1-4 mos.).
