Serrano peppers are a warm climate vegetable. Likewise, they grow as a perennial in warm climates and an annual in others. Pick them when they are green and they will ripen to red color off the vine. Picking them early like this will save them from rotting on the vine. Peppers grow 1-2 inches long. Harvest occurs within 3 weeks of planting. Space the plants 3 ft. apart for optimal growth. If growing in a container, ensure a 3 gallon or larger sized container.
Germination procedure: Start seeds indoors. Sow seeds at a 1/4 inch depth. For successful germination, ensure soil temperatures remain between 80-85 degrees. Keep seeds and soil moist throughout the germination phase: 2-3 weeks.
