FRESH PEPPERMINT seeds are a menthol-packed perennial with a bright flavor and a crisp texture. With so many uses, the leaves and stems are used fresh in medicine, drinks, oils, candies and dried in tea bags.
Peppermint thrives in moist to boggy soils. Ideally you would want to grow it in loam however you can grow it in many soil types that soak and hold in water. It is perennial in zones 3-11 however, it can also be grown indoors for those in colder climates. If you live in a hot climate, you will want to plant it in a somewhat shaded area. Look for one that gets sunlight only part of the day. Otherwise, plant it in a pot for easy placement.
Germination Procedure: Peppermint seeds require sunlight to germinate. Sow in soil temperatures between 69-75 degrees at 1/8 an inch depth. Accomplish by gently pressing the seeds into the surface. Keep the seeds and soil continually moist. Seeds germinate within 3 weeks.
