Native to Asia and in the FABACEAE family, this Mimosa is named after Nobleman Filippo Degli Albizzi whom introduced it to Europe in the Mid~Eighteenth Century.
The Albizia is a Fast Growing, Small to Medium sized Deciduous Tree that will typically grow in a Vase Shape from 20′ to 40′ Tall with an Umbrella Crown. Mimosa trees provide colorful shows for months, while giving yards an elegant and tropical feel. Each spring green leaves emerge that come together in a V shape and the multiple short leaves provide the zen of an Asian garden.

Zones: 6 to 9
Light: Full Sun to Partly Shady, although the best Blooms will be achieved with Full Sun.
Mimosa Germination:
1) Use rough grit sandpaper to sand the hard shells.
2) Bring water to a simmer, (Not a boil), and pour into a container placing the seeds in.
3)Allow the seeds to cool with the water, and soak for 24 to 36 hrs.
4) Sow appx. 1/8″ deep in well drained soil and keep moist for optimal germination.
